Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to define and execute the technical vision for a new decentralised trading protocol. This is a hands-on leadership role combining architecture design, engineering oversight, and strategic direction. The CTO will work from existing research and architectural concepts, translating them into a robust, live system. The role involves building a high-performance system while scaling the engineering function as the product evolves, working with a small, high-performing engineering team to deliver a scalable, secure, and production-ready system.

Requirements

• 5+ years in senior technology leadership roles
• Experience within blockchain, cryptocurrency, or decentralised systems environments
• Proven track record delivering complex, large-scale technical systems
• Strong hands-on experience with blockchain technologies (e.g. smart contracts, DeFi protocols, distributed systems)
• Deep understanding of cryptographic principles, consensus mechanisms, and system security
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Demonstrated ability to build and scale engineering teams
• Strong ownership mindset with a hands-on leadership approach
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers
• Clear communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strategic thinker with the ability to operate at both architectural and execution levels
